'Caring with Confidence'
A FREE and exciting National programme which the Carers' Resource are running for carers, aimed at boosting carers self esteem and confidence. The programme, funded by the Department of Health, is part of the Government's renewed National Carers Strategy and the 'new Deal for Carers', which aims to improve support for carers aged 18 and over. Caring with Confidence is about providing carers with the right kind of environment to improve their own health and wellbeing, making life easier where possible.
It will:
- help to build on existing strengths, skills and knowledge as a carer
- give carers the opportunity to share experiences and learn from others in similar situations
- give useful information, ideas and tips about looking after someone
- help for carers to decide what they might like to change about their caring role

Understanding and using an outcomes focus - a two-day training course for voluntary and community organisations.

This course is being organised by North Yorkshire Forum For Voluntary Organisations. The programme, which is run by Charities Evaluation aims to help voluntary and community organisations develop knowledge and skills in using an outcomes focus.
Many people in the voluntary and community sectors are recognising the benefits of focusing on organisational outcomes:
assessing their organisation's effectiveness, learning more about what works to improve services, boosting morale for staff and clients by showing that change is happening and demonstrating to funders that they are making a difference.

RELATE - Basic Counselling Skills
16, 23 & 30 September and 7 October from 9.30am - 3.30pm at Community House, Sharow View, Allhallowgate, Ripon. Participants are expected to attend all 4 sessions. This is a course for those engaged in a helping or supporting role privately or professionally. This course is FREE funded by North Yorkshire County Council Community Fund. FREE TRAINING: Volunteer Management Training during September and October in Harrogate

All training is provided by a CIEH accredited trainer, and will be held at Community House in Harrogate. The training is suitable for all levels of experience of volunteer management - whether you are a beginner or looking to refresh some skills.

Training - Henshaws Yorkshire Visual Impairment Awareness
on the last Wednesday of every month 10am -3pm, at the Arts and Crafts Centre, Knaresborough.

First Aid Training to Rural Communities
Jane Robinson was recently appointed Rural Isolation Project Co-ordinator (North Yorkshire) with the British Red Cross Society.
Her role is to identify those persons or groups who are vulnerable due to living in Rurally Isolated Communities in order that First Aid training can be offered to those deemed most at risk. This could be parent/family groups, farming communities, Walking groups/clubs, Elderly groups/clubs. Funding is limited for this project, as such it is set to run for 1 year only.
